The Deligram shines a spotlight on the many incredible food artisans in New York–and beyond. So we look to our friends to help us discover the best of the best every day. This week, we spoke to the indescribable Sue Chan, who calls what she does as “bringing people together over food and ideas.” As the founder of Care of Chan, an event media brand, and C/O/C/ Projects, a creative marketing agency, Chan is responsible for some of the best–and most delicious–events today, and her little black book is filled with a who’s who of the food industry. In fact, the new Care of Chan website, which launches this month, will be “a resource for all things convivial,” featuring the bi-coastal host’s secrets for throwing world-class events and more. To celebrate the launch, we asked Chan to share some of the things she loves right now.

My Favorite Things

Donabe from Toiro Kitchen

“A donabe is the perfect cooking companion for someone who’s always on-the-go, like myself, because it’s so easy to cook for yourself, or for a group of friends, in a matter of minutes.”

Shimichi Togarashi from The Japanese Pantry

“I’m a hot sauce fiend, and the Shimichi Togarashi from The Japanese Pantry is my latest obsession, and it’s made with such incredibly high quality ingredients that I put it on just about everything, from avocado toast, to eggs, to ramen. That said, proceed with caution – a small amount of this spice packs a strong punch.”

Dried Mango from Yun Hai Taiwanese Pantry

“Growing up, my parents were major health nuts, and so I’ve become quite the dried fruit connoisseur. Yun Hai Taiwanese Pantry’s Dried Mango is some of the best I’ve ever had – it’s juicy, sweet, tangy and perfectly chewy (not tough, like most generic brands). They also have dried guava, dried wax apple, and dried pineapple, which are all worth trying, and always make for a perfect gift.”

Pastry Chef Sasha Piligian’s Coconut Carrot Loaf from Canyon Coffee

“I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I’ve probably consumed nearly a thousand slices of Sasha’s Coconut Carrot Loaf, sold at Canyon Coffee, which manages to make cake feel light and refreshing. Whenever I start my mornings with a slice, everything seems to go my way that day.”

Soba Cha Buckwheat Tea from Kettl

“Kettl’s caffeine-free soba cha is sweet, nutty and highly addictive. Add the right amount of milk and your latte will taste like peanut butter, in the best way.”

How to Eat Like Sue Chan…

Los Angeles has incredible food but not a whole lot of “restaurants,” as in places with good food that aren’t tourist traps. People always ask me for my favorite restaurant in LA and,
