This week, we asked some of the moms in our community for gift ideas that they’d love to receive for Mother’s Day. Are you taking notes? You should be.
Sarah Nsikak, Artist + Creative Director at La Reunion, would love to receive a cookbook this year–specifically The Everlasting Meal Cookbook by Tamar Adler. “She teaches us how to use food waste and has a very inclusive and approachable approach that makes me excited to cook and see waste as a possibility.”
Kate Berry, Creative Director and Chief Creative Officer of Domino and Saveur, recommends caviar from Russ & Daughters, Bonilla a la Vista Patatas Fritas from Despaña, and Vermont Creamery crème fraîche. And, she has a warning: “When [my daughter] Quinn was four years old, she said ‘Mommy I really like those fish eggs, the black ones, not the orange ones.’ So I guess my tip would be not to let your kids try caviar at a young age or you’re going to have to share your Mother’s Day treat!”
Laura Ferrara, stylist, suggests a whole prosciutto leg from D. Coluccio & Sons (with the bone in!) “I have been going here since before my son Matteo was born; in the 1980s, I would go shopping with my mother for hard-to-find Italian imports. I value their commitment to staying open through tough times while always being kind. Teaching my son to go out of his way to support and appreciate the value of dedicated, caring people is also a true Mother’s Day gift.”
